LinkedIn is one the top most popular social networking site for recruiters, companies, and employees.  There are many important things people can add into their LinkedIn Profile, Current Position and Professional Headline however for those who are unemployed this presents an issue.  Even though you are unemployed it’s important to ensure that you can present yourself in a positive light to possible recruits, employers, and contacts. Make sure you’re honest in your profile as potential employers may check your background further if they are considering you for a job.

Several possible LinkedIn professional headline examples for the unemployed are:

“Unemployed and Looking for Work

Experienced Retail Manager available for new opportunity

Recent College Graduate Seeking Entry Level Programming Position

Operations Logistic Professional Seeking Work

Pharmaceutical Sales Representative currently exploring options.” Jobsearch.about.com.

Additional unemployed LinkedIn current position examples:

·         “Open to Opportunities at Seeking New Position

Join in with relevant LinkedIn groups that will allow you to connect with others in similar industries.  You will be able to contact people that you meet in the groups directly.  If you get a job then it’s important to still continue to network with others as just in case you lose your job then one of your backups will be to communicate with your network contacts.
